England midfielder Jordan Henderson is a doubt for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Switzerland after injuring an ankle during training.
Henderson limped out of England's training session at St Jakob-Park in Basel on Sunday.
Manchester City's James Milner could be the man to step in, although Aston Villa's Fabian Delph impressed as a substitute against Norway on Wednesday.
England are also without striker Daniel Sturridge, who has a thigh problem.
Goalkeeper Ben Foster and uncapped midfielder Jack Colback have also been forced to withdraw from manager Roy Hodgson's squad with injuries.
